Hello, my name is Silas and I am raising funds for my friend Saja and her family, who are currently suffering from the ongoing war on Gaza and the Palestinian people. I am doing this because these people’s lives have been unfairly destroyed and their health and well-being put in constant jeopardy. Here is Saja’s account of her and her family’s experiences:

Hello, my name is Saja, and I am 21 years old. I am from Gaza, and I have lived through the hardest days of my life, which continue to this day. My family and I have endured a devastating experience for over a year and a half, one that has left deep scars on all of us. My sister, Islam, was severely injured in her stomach, and she continues to suffer from her injuries. Our lives have changed drastically in ways we never imagined.

We are a family of seven, and we lived in northern Gaza, where life was tough but manageable. However, when the war broke out, everything changed. At first, my father was determined to stay in our home because it meant so much to him. This house held his childhood memories, and leaving it behind was unimaginable. But as the bombing became unbearable, we had no choice but to flee to Khan Younis. My father couldn’t come with us and decided to stay behind in the north, facing the ongoing bombing alone.

Our journey south was filled with pain and uncertainty. We didn’t know where we would go, and each step we took revealed more destruction. In Khan Younis, we found ourselves living in a small tent, struggling to survive in the face of constant danger. My sister Islam had saved money for years to buy a new camera, as she is a photographer and an artist, but when we reached the south, we didn’t have enough money for food. All the money Islam had saved for her dream was spent on food, and her dream of becoming a photographer and artist faded away.

As the bombing continued in Khan Younis, we had to move again, this time to Rafah. The challenges kept piling up, and we had to adapt once more, living in a tent, trying to find shelter. During this period, we lost my uncle and cousin. This was a devastating blow to my mother, as she was extremely close to her brother. The grief was overwhelming, and it made an already difficult time even harder.

Meanwhile, my father was in the north, alone, enduring the bombing, and going days without food. There was no food available in the north, and even if there was, it was too expensive for him to afford. He was isolated and vulnerable, facing the harshest conditions.

Today, after everything we’ve been through, I am asking for your help. Even a small donation will mean the world to us. We need your support to rebuild our lives, secure a home, and provide food for our family. Your donations will not only help us rebuild our home, but they will also give us the hope we desperately need for a better future. We need help to start over, and with your support, we can make that happen.

Every small contribution will give us the chance to rebuild, to give Islam the opportunity to restore her dream, and to help us survive this difficult period. Please, help us start anew and give us hope for a better tomorrow.
